YOUTH MISSION OUTREACH PROGRAM

The youth mission project first started going to Camp Joy in Berkley Springs WV.  Their mission was to help repair the facilities.  This mission group also gives the youth of the Christ United Methodist Church in Salisbury, opportunities to put their Christian faith in action, and to learn to establish new relationships.

Jeffry Fenney (In Charge) and Daryl Webster have been coming for fishing trips to Tylerton on Smith Island MD.  Spring of last year after Hurricane Sandy hit Smith Island, Mr. Fenney and Mr. Webster asked Duke Marshall if there was some way that the Youth Mission could help.  They came last Easter and helped to clean up Tylerton from the storms damage.  They helped with cleaning yards to repairing homes.

This summer they have come to do a major make over on the Vaughn Hoffman Dental Clinic in Rhodes Point.  They have been stripping paint, caulking, repainting, doing repairs, and cleaning the yard.  The plumbing work was completed by Annemessex plumbing & heating.

For each trip the mission group has different colored T-Shirts that speaks of the purpose for their being at that mission place.  This trips T-Shirts were purple and read “Smith Island Missions Project Launching Ecumenism“

The Rhodes Point Methodist Women hosted the youth mission, supported by the Ewell and Tylerton Methodist Women.  The women prepared dinner for the mission group on Thursday and Friday evenings at the Rhodes Point Community Center.

I would like to thank Christ United Methodist Church, and their youth mission for their much appreciated efforts to help save Smith Island.  You have truly been a blessing to us all.
